Please follow the nine steps below to obtain the cost estimate of entering the Japanese national stage as well as preparing and filing a Japanese translation. Then, please click "calculate" to see the estimate.


Step 1.  Please have an internationally published PCT application (world laid open publication) on hand.

Note: If you do not have a world laid-open publication on hand, you may not be able to enter correct values in the text boxes below.

 

Step 2. Enter the number of days left before the 30-month deadline* to enter into the Japanese national phase.

* The 30-month deadline: The national phase application must be filed within 30 months from the priority date.

 

 

Step 3. Enter the total number of words contained in the title of the invention, the claims, the  specification and the abstract .

Step 4. Enter the number of figures.

Step 5. Enter the number of numerical formulas, chemical formulas and tables in the specification.

Step 6. Would you like to file a translation of the Article 19 amendment? If "Yes", enter the number of the English words of the entire application*, which incorporated the amended claims into the original claims.

Note: Claims amended under the Article 19 can be incorporated into the original claims and filed along with the original specification and the abstract, or they can be filed as a separate amendment to the original claims.
In order to avoid incurring the costs of preparing translations of both original and the amended claims, we recommend incorporating the amended claims into the original claims.

 

 

Step 7. Would you like to file a translation of the Article 34 amendment? If "Yes," enter the number of words to be translated.

Note: Filing a translation of the Article 34 amendment is not mandatory.  If the amendment does not meet the substance prerequisite according to the Japanese patent law, it may be rejected.   If you are not sure, please consult with Omori & Yaguchi's Japanese patent attorney.

 

 

Step 8. Would you like to file a Request for Examination at the same time as entering into the Japanese national phase?  A Request for Examination must be filed within three years from the international application date.

Note: A bio-related application requires detailed review by our attorneys and scientists/technical advisors, thus is subject to a surcharge.  As a sequence listing must be filed as a separate flexible disk (FD), a filing fee has to be paid.
