SEOUL (Kyodo) -- Fujitsu Ltd. and Samsung SDI Co. said
Monday they have agreed to settle their dispute over
Fujitsu's patents on plasma display panels.
The Japanese and South Korean electronics makers also
agreed on the mutual use of their PDP patents for the
next five years, company officials said.
With
the agreement Fujitsu and Samsung will withdraw all the
lawsuits they have filed against each other in Japan and
the United States, the two companies said. Fujitsu
will also retract its request filed with Japanese customs
authorities to halt imports of Samsung-made PDPs.
The
legal dispute began in February, when Samsung filed a
lawsuit in the United States seeking the nullification of
Fujitsu's patents on technologies that extend the life of
PDPs.
